Sure. Business/Marketing wise I understand the appeal. Sometimes it compromises the design. The thing is that when a design is created for a marketing purpose it needs to be more than just bold and prominent. It needs to have a story, a concept and some design thinking behind it. But in the case of the marketplace, there was no marketing buzz/promise/story. One day it appeared there.
They had a variety of failed attempts doing separated apps. Most of which were Snapchat replicas. But this time they decided to squeeze it into their mothership apps. It seems that they go by “if it is successful it’ll get its own app”. Therefore they decide to experiment in the place where most people are.
I justify these moves from a business perspective. I just think it’s wrong from a product/design perspective. Therefore I doubt it’ll succeed.
